GIS Analyst
Office Location: Any Apex Office (Fargo or Bismarck, ND or Detroit Lakes, St. Cloud, or Minnetonka, MN)
Apex Engineering Group has an opening for a GIS (Geographic Information System) Analyst. This position can be based in any of listed offices. Primary responsibilities include supporting the GIS Coordinator in expertise and services on a wide variety of GIS-related projects for both internal and external clients. This position will primarily be responsible for data analysis, advanced map development, configuration of web-based GIS solutions, and developing automation in the ArcGIS environment. This position will also have the potential for advancement to support internal and external consulting services.
Essential Tasks and Duties:
- Prepare advanced detailed maps, data analysis and GIS automation using GIS software, with operational knowledge of CAD software including Civil 3D and MicroStation.
- Produce presentation quality maps using cartographic design standards for internal usage.
- Develop and manage quality control procedures and process documentation.
- Acquire spatial data and integrate the datasets into the organization's GIS.
- Maintains a high attention to detail on concurrent tasks, while meeting challenging deadlines.
- Ability to work within a team atmosphere.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, Computer Science, or GIS-related field from an accredited college or university.
- 3-5 years’ experience of GIS ESRI suite of software, including: Use of GIS with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, configuration of ArcGIS Solutions, configuration and customization of Survey123, Field Maps, ArcGIS Dashboards, ArcGIS Story Maps, ArcGIS Web App Builder or ArcGIS Experience Builder.
- Knowledge of GIS as it relates to land development, local government, public works, planning, municipal engineering, water resources, environmental permitting, transportation and transportation planning.
- Working knowledge of relational database systems, and Esri programming languages (Arcade, Python, Visual Basic, JavaScript)
- Familiarity with CAD data and software and the conversion process to GIS.
- Experience with high-accuracy GPS data collection.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license. Regional travel may be required
- Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
- Must work scheduled hours in the office or onsite for projects.
