Position Description:
This position can be based in any of the listed offices. This position will work closely with our GIS team in various mapping, analysis, and data management tasks. This position offers a valuable opportunity to experience a wide range of GIS applications throughout the company. The internship is a part-time position and will last approximately 3-4 months. Expected Work Hours are typically Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5:00 pm. Periodic travel may be required, and overtime hours are possible.

Qualification Requirements: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of GIS as it relates to engineering in public works, planning, municipal, water resources, environmental permitting, and transportation.
  • Knowledge of ESRI Software ArcPro to conduct editing, analysis, table-joins, and related database tasks.
  • Understanding ESRI ArcGIS Online web maps, web applications, field maps application and Survey123.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with GPS data collection.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team atmosphere.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
  • Must work scheduled hours in the office or onsite for projects. 
  • May require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties associated with construction observation or surveying.
  • Required to lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Essential Tasks and Duties: 
  • Prepare detailed maps, data analysis, and data editing using GIS software.
  • Produce presentation quality maps using cartographic design standards for internal usage.
  • Digitize and input data from pdf scans or as-built CAD files, conduct quality control on GIS data.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
  • Travel and out-of-town stays may be required; may work overtime especially during the construction season.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Hourly Base Pay Range: $23-$26 (Actual base pay is dependent on several factors, including experience, education, licensure, job location, and internal equity.)
