Accounting Assistant
Office Location: Fargo, ND
The Accounting Assistant will assist the current accounting team with basic accounting tasks such as data entry, journal entries, financial statement preparations, reconciliations and various clerical needs of the accounting department under the supervision of the Accounting Manager. This position is intended to allow for the development of essential skills and will provide the opportunity to grow and advance within the company’s accounting department and financial operations.
Essential Tasks and Duties:
- Data Entry: Accurately record financial transactions in accounting software.
- Accounts Payable: Process incoming invoices. Enter invoices in accounting and job costing software. Contact vendors for missing or corrected invoices as necessary.
- Accounts Receivable: Process electronic payments and checks received in the mail; including scanning and electronic deposits.
- Employee Expense Verification: Assist in reviewing employee expense reports and receipts. Verify hotel receipts against the travel spreadsheet.
- Credit Card Reconciliation: Verify receipts to credit card statement to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Audit and Tax Assistance Support: Support tax and audit preparation by gathering data and organizing financial information.
- Clerical and Record Keeping: Receive and process the accounting department’s incoming/outgoing mail. Filing and scanning. Maintain and update accounting records, files, and documentation
- Set up new projects in job costing software.
- May occasionally require overtime to meet deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a 2-year associate’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. Previous accounting experience, part-time or internship experiences will be considered beneficial.
- Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.
- Analytical skills with the ability to analyze financial and an aptitude for mathematics.
- Experience with QuickBooks software preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office required (i.e. Excel spreadsheets, MS Word, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external parties.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
- Required to lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 35 pounds.
- Must work scheduled and required hours.

Hourly Base Pay Range: $25 - $29 (Actual base pay is dependent on several factors, including experience, education, licensure, job location, and internal equity.)
